PBNM Board Member on Chef AJ Live!!

I was thrilled to be a guest on Chef AJ’s show. I started teaching Food For Life classes in May 2020 so to have the opportunity to provide recipes for “Food is Climate” and then demonstrate some of my recipes on a celebrity’s show and her audience was a great opportunity for a few reasons.

First, being exposed to a large audience is great for any small business owner. Second and more important,  was sharing my story of how a whole food plant-based diet has dramatically improved my health and how this diet is also good for our planet.

I liken this diet to putting on a seat belt when I drive. There is no guarantee that I might not get in an accident or hurt, but when I buckle up I improve my chances of survival and not having a fatal accident. Lifewise, with a whole-food plant-based diet, I may still get ill, but my chances of avoiding a catastrophic illness improve substantially as a result of my food choices. So buckle up at every meal!

You can read all about how a whole food plant-based diet is key to fighting climate change in “Food is Climate” by Glen Merzer, available on Amazon. Send proof of purchase of the paperback, Kindle, or audiobook of Food Is Climate to foodisclimate@gmail.com, write CHEF AJ in the subject line, and you will be sent a bonus file of more than 25 low-fat, sugar-free, vegan recipes (in addition to the more than 65 in the book). Glen will be PBNM’s guest on January 25th during a live broadcast along with Meryl Fury, Chef AJ, and Dr. Michael Klaper!

Mark worked in leadership roles at Loyola University Health System and Northwestern Medicine training and coaching clinical leaders whose departments saw thousands of patients dealing with chronic illnesses. As a long-time Vegetarian, it was not until he adopted a whole food plant-based diet did he see tremendous improvement in his health and a path to maintain a healthy weight.

In addition to being licensed by PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine) as a Food For Life Instructor, Mark provides coaching for individuals and couples on transitioning to a sustainable plant-based diet as well as workshops and workplace seminars on a variety of health-related topics. Mark sees his role at PBNM as another opportunity to educate the community on the evidence-based benefits of whole-food plant-based eating and assist people with improving the quality of their lives while avoiding a lifetime of prescription medicine and endless doctor visits.
