What if I told you that there is a strong link between lifestyle habits, health, longevity, and saving our precious planet? Would you believe it? It’s true!!
Dr. Ashok Nagella will be sharing how evidence- based lifestyle modifications can not only lead to longer lives and a major reduction in the risk of acquiring devastating illnesses but also help us in the fight against the existential threat of climate change while helping to conserve critical and limited resources!!
The presentation is 1 hour plus 1/2 hour for Q&A.
We hope to virtually see you there!!
About the speaker:
Dr. Ashok Nagella is an American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology Board Certified Psychiatrist that has practiced Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry for over 20 years in the states of Arizona and Illinois.
To expand his Primary Care medical skills, Dr. Nagella also worked at the Hines VA Medical Center in a Primary Care continuity clinic where he treated chronic, often severe medical illnesses including Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension, High Cholesterol, Chronic Fatigue, Obesity, and Chronic Pain while addressing mental health issues including Mood Disorders, Psychosis, Behavioral Disorders, and Anxiety Disorders among others.
Dr. Nagella now works in Evanston, IL, at Life Stance Health which is a national organization specializing in the treatment of mental health for all ages. He believes in a holistic approach that emphasizes the strong connection between mental and physical health. This involves complementing traditional psychiatry and therapy with evidence-based lifestyle modifications including nutrition, exercise, sleep hygiene, and
stress mitigation strategies (yoga, meditation, etc.). Dr. Nagella also incorporates the exciting longevity research from the “Blue Zones” research that has led to the longest living communities in the world with the highest percentage of centenarians (people that live into their 100’s).
Dr. Nagella has seen that not only do these interventions optimize mental health and cognition but also physical health. Dr. Nagella has also noticed a rise in “climate anxiety” which can also be addressed with these lifestyle changes.
Dr. Nagella has been featured on the Tucson, Arizona (while living there) “Morning Blend” in 2013 and Elysabeth Alfano’s talk show “Vegans in the Military” in March of 2020 speaking about the mental and physical benefits of whole foods plant based eating.
