You’re Invited to A Plant Powered Afternoon!

We are beyond excited!!!! The Chicagoland Plant Based Nutrtition Movement (CPBNM.org) is hosting it’s first ever PICNIC / and VOLUNTARY POTLUCK in the beautiful forest preserve setting of Busse Woods in Suburban Cook County, and we’d love for you to join us!

We’re passionate about the power of health-promoting plant based foods to fuel our bodies and a more joyous life, and what better way to celebrate that fact than with a PICNIC! We’ll be out in the fresh air with the sights and sounds of summer, and with great food and wonderful people, what more could we ask for! And, yes, this is a “kid friendly” event…if you have an outdoor game you’d like to bring, by all means!!! Oh, and did we mention it’s FREE?

And BUILD-YOUR-OWN-TACOS…we’ll have all fixin’s, you just build your own!  Always a kid favorite…regardless of age!

This will be an entirely “whole food, plant based – no added oil” event, and with a potluck component, we invite everyone to bring a dish to share. THAT IS NOT A REQUIREMENT to enjoy this event..we just thought it would be fun! We will also be providing foods! So for those interested in bringing a dish, among the things that could be included in their preparation are, of course:

  • Vegetables (starchy and non-starchy alike)
  • Greens
  • Whole grains
  • Beans and legumes
  • Nuts and seeds
  • Herbs and spices
  • Fruit of any kind
  • Plant based “milks” (like Almond Milk, Soy Milk, Hemp Milk, Oat Milk, etc)

And to make this even BETTER, if you do bring a dish, also bring a copy of the recipe you used to display with your dish so other guests could take a photo of the dishes they enjoyed and their accompanying recipes!

And among the items to NOT be included in the dishes are:

  • Meat
  • Fish
  • Poultry
  • Eggs
  • Dairy (such as cheese, yogurt, milk)
  • Oil of any kind (such as olive oil, canola, coconut oil, etc)

If you’re not currently filling your plates with all the beautiful colors of plant based foods, you’re in for a treat!

And did we mention, BUILD-YOUR-OWN-TACOS??? Sure to be great fun. We’ll have some other tasty, healthy foods, too, but would love for you to bring a dish to share as well!

NOTE:

There is no grilling/cooking apparatus on site. If you need such a thing, you may bring your own.

We have a large shelter at the site with a number of picnic tables, but you’re encouraged to bring lawn chairs, just in case.

By the way, weather looks to be gorgeous, but toasty! So be sure to protect your skin, and especially the kids!!!!
